Colonials in the Community

Being a Colonial means having a love for the game and promoting it in the community. The Colonials serve as role models for younger players in the Pittsburgh area. The connection between the team and the community is a special part of being a Colonial.

Throughout the year, players volunteer at clinics and other events. This mentorship builds a special bond and the youth players become big fans attending RMU games to support their big sisters.

The Colonials have a respect for the game. Over the years the team has received numerous Team Sportsmanship Awards, a Public Recognition Award and multiple finalists for the national Hockey Humanitarian Award.

Even after their RMU careers end, many alumni stay involved in the game. From coaching to refereeing to creating their own training companies, former Colonials continue to grow the game of hockey and provide guidance to younger players.
